Barrichello looking to do the double

Thursday, August 27, 2009

Rubens Barrichello is hoping to carry the form of his race-winning run in Valencia to be able to convert it into another strong result at the Belgian Grand Prix this weekend. Having brought an end to a near half decade run of no wins last Sunday, 'Rubinho' knows the necessary championship-challenging thrust is now firmly within himself.

Victory number ten of his career in Spain last Sunday - a sum equalling those of Ronnie Peterson, Gerhard Berger and World Champions James Hunt, Jody Scheckter and Lewis Hamilton - was perhaps the sweetest of Rubens Barrichello's 17-year Formula One career after standing on a top podium step for the first time with a team other than Ferrari.

"Valencia was a fantastic weekend and the memories will stay with me for a long time," the Paulista said, looking ahead to Spa. "Winning again feels pretty good! I always knew that we had both the car and the pace to deliver a win this season and I've stayed positive. I've had a few days to relax and reflect now but I can't wait to get back in the car again at Spa!

"For me, Spa is unquestionably one of the best circuits in the world and I love racing there. The lap is really long and fast with some great corners and it gives you a
fantastic feeling in a Formula One car. Experience is a key factor as you can pick up a lot of time if you get the car setup just right and you have to be precise in your timing to make the most of the track time in practice and qualifying.

"We've picked up some momentum again now after the result in Valencia and know that we have to make the most of the next few races."
