Kubica preparing for 'stop-and-go' Valencia

Friday, August 14, 2009

Robert Kubica is looking forward to returning to the race track in Valencia as his final seven Grands Prix for the BMW team commence before the German manufacturer pulls out of Formula One at the end of the year. The Pole, who finished on the podium in the European Grand Prix last year, is a fan of the 25-turn street circuit.

Third on the grid became third at the end of the race for Kubica as the dock-based track hosted its first F1 race last year. "I really enjoyed the Valencia circuit a lot," Robert commented ahead of next weekend's encounter.

"I like the character of stop-and-go tracks; in Valencia you have a lot of long straights followed by narrow corners and long straights again - that means a lot of heavy braking."

Having suffered a disastrous season so far with only two points on the board, Kubica is yet to announce his plans for 2010 but is remaining focussed on the job in hand; he is also aware of effects the Spanish air temperatures can have: "It was very hot there last year as the track is between concrete walls and there is not a lot of air - these conditions are very tough for the car's cooling."
