Massa thanks Hungarian doctors

Monday, August 17, 2009

Felipe Massa has sent a letter of gratitude to those doctors who monitored his progress in the immediate aftermath of his freak accident. The Brazilian was taken to intensive care in Budapest's ÁEK hospital on Saturday 25 July and is now on his way to making a full recover at home in São Paulo.

Visited by Ferrari's Stefano Domenicali at home in Brazil, the team principal was happy to report that the driver is back to his usual ways as the recuperation continues after suffering from a fractured skull. With doctors in Hungary having saved Felipe from what were believed to be initially life threatening injuries, Massa sent a letter to the hospital via email.

'I am convinced that the speed and the quality of the treatment I received at the ÁEK hospital was fundamental to reducing the duration of my convalescence,' the letter, witnessed by news agency AFP, reads.

"Thanks to the professional excellence and the kindness, this story has had a good ending," said Ricardo Leyser Goncalves, a Brazilian state secretary from the sports ministry. "All of Brazil could relax that Felipe Massa was in good hands." F1 commercial rights holder Bernie Ecclestone has also praised the 'super hospital', stating that 'if I have an accident I want to be taken to ÁEK'.
