Trulli expecting Toyota to suit Valencia

Monday, August 17, 2009

Jarno Trulli is confident that the Toyota TF109 will easily find the racing groove on the tight confines of the Valencia street circuit for the European Grand Prix this weekend. The Italian achieved a top five result on the new track last year and is currently only three points off the championship top five this season.

With the Williams of Nico Rosberg currently fifth in the championship with 25.5 points, Jarno's 22.5 leaves him sixth with the absent Felipe Massa only half a point further back as the championship intensifies after the month-long summer break.

"I am really glad to be racing again; it's great to have some time off to relax with my family but my passion is racing so it's good to be getting back to the track," said Trulli, who travelled home to Abruzzo during the holiday period. "It seems like a long time since the last race so everyone in the team is fired up to come out fighting this weekend."

Although the venue as a race track is not the leading Toyota driver's favourite, one-lap specialist Trulli is aiming for an impressive performance on the tarmac. "Valencia is not such an exciting circuit for me but that doesn't matter so much if we are strong, which we were last year on this track," he continued. "It was good to have both cars in the points in Hungary. The Valencia track has a different character so it's difficult to predict at this stage but my target is to score as many points as possible."
