Wii F1 game to include driving wheel

Friday, August 21, 2009

Nintendo Wii gamers will be able to enjoy the officially licensed F1 2009 game with an included steering wheel addition. The realistically-shaped add-on will be available in a specially packaged box for what is the first official Formula One game to be released by Codemasters.

For the first official F1 game since 2006, Leamington Spa-based Codemasters has won the rights from Sony to publish the product which will also be available on the Sony PlayStation Portable (PSP) platform.

The Wii's F1 steering wheel accessory - which will be available for European players - functions in the same way as the standard shaped wheel in that the Wii controller is inserted into the centre section of the accessory.

Users of PCs and other platforms need not worry, however, as Codemasters will be releasing an updated, high definition (HD) version of the game to incorporate these platforms next year; like F1 2009, F1 2010 will include all the latest in Formula One such as the new Abu Dhabi street circuit, the championship leading Brawn GP team and KERS (Kinetic Energy Recovery System).
