The Renault team have been let off the hook after an FIA investigation explained how both Fernando Alonso and Romain Grosjean missed the compulsory pit lane autograph session on Friday morning in Valencia.
With new-for-2009 rules stating that all competitors must be available for a public autograph-signing session each Grand Prix weekend, a notification from governing body the FIA's press delegate explained how both local hero Alonso and F1 rookie Grosjean failed to attend the mandatory session.
An official FIA statement reads:
'The stewards remind the competitor ING Renault F1 Team and the drivers concerned of the obligation to comply with Art 35. 2 of the 2009 F1 Sporting Regulations.
The Stewards, however, after hearing the explanation of both the Competitors representative and the drivers, decided that, exceptionally, the incident requires no further action.'
